The 2009/10 season was the seventh season of the Elite Ice Hockey League , the top British ice hockey division . The Coventry Blaze became the first of the regular season and thus British champions , while the Belfast Giants prevailed in the playoffs.

In the regular season, each of the eight teams played a total of 56 games. The first place became British Champion. All eight teams qualified for the playoffs, in which the playoff winner was played. For a win after regular time and after overtime each team received two points, for a defeat after overtime one point and for a defeat after normal time zero points.
