In the junior division Skvorcovs first played for Latvia at the U18 World Cup in 2008 in Division I, but missed promotion to the top division at the home tournament in Riga due to a 1-0 defeat against the Norwegian offspring. With the Latvian U20 selection , he also played in Division I in 2008 and rose in this age group with his team after a 3-1 win in the decisive game against the Belarusian team, which was tied at the end, due to the direct comparison in the top division. At the U20 World Championships in 2009 and 2010 , he then competed with the Balts in the top division.
