Zak Nothling (born March 21, 1989 in East Tamaki , New Zealand ) is a former New Zealand ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with Botany Swarm in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League until 2013 .

Career

Club

Zak Nothling began his career as a hockey player with the South Auckland Sworm , for which he made his debut in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League in the 2005 season . In 2007, 2008, when he was voted Most Valuable Player of the Finals, in 2010 and 2011 he became New Zealand Champion with the team that has now called itself Botany Swarm . In these years and also in 2005 he was voted the best goalkeeper in the league. In 2010 and 2011 he also achieved the best catch quota and the lowest goals against goals in the league. In 2013 he ended his career at the age of just 24.

National team

Nothling played in the junior division for New Zealand at the U18 World Championships in 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2007, respectively, in Division III and the U20 World Championships, U20 World Championships in 2006 in Division II and 2007 , when he achieved the best catch quota of the tournament, and 2008 , when he was elected the best goalkeeper of the tournament with the best catch quota after the Serbian Zvezdan Vidaković , in Division III.

For the men's selection , he played at the World Championships of Division II in 2008 , 2010 and 2011 , when he was voted best goalkeeper with the third best catch rate and the third lowest goal against goals of the tournament, as well as Division III in 2009 .
