Jonathan Carlsson (born August 5, 1988 in Uppsala ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Mora IK in the SHL since December 2018 .

Career

Jonathan Carlsson began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth of Almtuna IS , where he was active until 2004. Then the defender moved to the youth department of Brynäs IF , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien in the 2006/07 season , scoring one goal in six games. In the following season, the right-shooter stood parallel for Brynäs IF, for which he played 26 times in the Elitserien, and IF Björklöven from the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan , for which he scored five points in 16 games, including two goals. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in the sixth round as a total of 162 players by the Chicago Blackhawks , but initially stayed in Sweden. In his first full year at Brynäs, Carlsson was a template in a total of 59 missions in the 2008/09 season.

For the 2009/10 season Carlsson was ordered by the Chicago Blackhawks to North America, where he was active during the season for their farm teams Rockford IceHogs from the American Hockey League and Toledo Walleye from the ECHL . The following season the Swede returned to Brynäs IF in the Elitserien. With Brynäs he won the Swedish championship in 2012 .

After two years in North America (ECHL and AHL), he moved back to Europe during the 2016/17 season and won the championship title in Slovakia with HC Banska Bystrica . In the 2017/18 season he was under contract with the EC Graz 99ers in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .

International

For Sweden , Carlsson took part in the U20 World Youth Championship in 2008 , where he finished second with his team.
