Ian Meierdres (born December 24, 1988 in Breda ) is a Dutch ice hockey goalkeeper who is under contract with the Tilburg Trappers and has played with the team in the German Oberliga Nord since 2015 .

Career

Club

Ian Meierdres began his career as a hockey player in the second team of the Tilburg Trappers in the second-rate first division . After he had been part of the squad since 2005, he made his debut in the 2007/08 season in the first team of the North Brabant in the honor division . With the Trappers he was Dutch champion in 2007, 2008, 2014 and 2015 and cup winner in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 . In 2011 he was voted the best goalkeeper in the Netherlands. Since 2015 he has been playing with his team in the German Oberliga Nord and won the German Oberliga championship with the Trappers in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He was elected goalkeeper of the year in the Oberliga Nord in 2018.

National team

Meierdres participated for the Netherlands in the junior division at the U18 World Championships in 2005 and 2006 and the U20 World Championships in 2007 and 2008 , when he had the best catch quota and the lowest goals against goals of the tournament, in Division II.

He was in the squad of the men's national team at the World Championships of Division I in 2008 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , when he had the best catch quota after the Pole Przemysław Odrobny and the South Korean Eum Hyun-seung and was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament in 2014 and in 2015 , when he achieved the second best catch quota of the tournament, but could not prevent the Dutch from relegating to Division II. At the 2018 World Cup , he and his team managed to return to Division I, to which he made an active contribution with the best catch quota and the lowest number of goals against.

He also represented the Orange team at the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , where the Dutch were eliminated in the first qualifying round, which took place in Narva in November 2008 , and in Sochi in 2014 , which was held in Budapest in November 2012 (first qualifying round ) and in February 2013 in Bietigheim-Bissingen (second qualifying round).
