Daniel Oberkofler (born July 16, 1988 in Graz ) is an Austrian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the EC Graz 99ers in the Austrian ice hockey league again since 2017 .
Career
At the age of 15 Daniel Oberkofler already played for the EC Graz 99ers in the U20 league Austria. He ran for four seasons for the Graz club across the ice, where he had his first ÖEHL assignment in 2005. That year he also played four games on loan for the Kapfenberg Bulls in the Nationalliga , the second highest Austrian league. In 2006 he moved to EHC Linz , for which Oberkofler played until 2017. In February 2008 - just like exactly three years later - he was voted EBEL YoungStar of the Month. One of the highlights of his intermittent career was the 2008/09 season , in which Daniel Oberkofler stepped on the ice in 64 games. In the 2011/12 season he won his first championship title with the Linzers .
After eleven years, 645 EBEL games as well as 77 goals and 142 assists in Linz, Oberkofler decided in 2017 to say goodbye to the EHC and returned to the EC Graz 99ers.
International
Oberkofler played for Austria in the junior division at the U18 World Championship 2006 and the U20 World Championship 2007 and 2008 in Division I.
In the men's selection of the Alpine country, Oberkofler made his debut in a 3-2 win against Italy on February 7, 2008 in Sanok, Poland . He took part in the World Championships in Division I in 2012 , 2014 and 2016 and in the Top Division in 2013 . He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournament for the 2014 Winter Olympics and the Winter Games in Sochi itself.
Inline hockey
In addition to his ice hockey career, Oberkofler also plays inline hockey . He was used at the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championships in Division I in 2012 and 2014 in the Austrian national team . In 2012 he was the second top scorer of the tournament behind the Slovak Filip Novák .
