Ken Ograjenšek (born August 30, 1991 in Celje ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the EC Graz 99ers from the Austrian ice hockey league since 2016 .

Career

Ken Ograjenšek began his career as a hockey player with HK Celje in his hometown. From 2006 to 2010 he played for HDK Maribor , ŠD Alfa and finally also for his home club from Celje in the Slovenian U20 league, where he was also used by ŠD Alfa in the Slovenian ice hockey league. From 2009 to 2014 he played for the Slovenian top club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana . With Olimpija Ljubljana he played in the Slohokej League (until 2012) and in the Austrian Ice Hockey League (since 2011) in addition to occasional missions in the Slovenian ice hockey league , which he completed mainly in the playoffs . In the course of his career he was able to celebrate three Slovenian championship titles with the club (in the seasons 2011/12 , 2012/13 and 2013/14 ). In the 2010/11 season he was not only the best preparer and top scorer of the Slohokej League, but was also voted their best striker and most valuable player . From 2014 to 2016 he played for the Image Club d'Épinal in the French Ligue Magnus and became French runner-up with his club in 2015. Since 2016 he has been under contract with the EC Graz 99ers again in the Austrian ice hockey league.

International

For Slovenia, Ograjenšek took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 2008 in Division I and in 2009 , when he was the best goal setter and top scorer of the tournament, in Division II and in the U20 World Championships in 2010 and 2011 in Division II.

In the senior division, he was in the top division of his country for the first time at the 2015 World Cup . After he could not keep the class there with his team, he played in Division I in 2016 and, as the tournament's top scorer (together with his compatriot Jan Urbas ), made a significant contribution to the Slovenians' immediate resurgence. But even at the 2017 World Cup , Ograjenšek failed to stay in the top division with the Slovenians. Therefore, he played again in Division I at the 2018 World Cup . In addition, he represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the 2018 Winter Games and at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang itself.

Inline hockey

Ograjenšek is also internationally active in inline hockey . He was part of the Slovenian national team at the 2013 Inline Hockey World Cup .
