Nikita Wassiljewitsch Filatow ( Russian: Никита Васильевич Филатов ; English transcription: Nikita Vasilyevich Filatov ; born May 25, 1990 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player . The left winger was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2008 in sixth position by the Columbus Blue Jackets , but played only 53 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for this and the Ottawa Senators . He then spent most of his career in his Russian homeland, where he played over 300 games in the Continental Hockey League (KHL).

Career

youth

Filatov went through the youth department of HK CSKA Moscow during his junior years . In the 2005/06 season he received at the age of 15 for the first time playing times in the second senior team, which was based in the third highest Russian division . At the end of the 2006/07 season he was part of the squad of the Russian U18 national team , which won the gold medal at the 2007 U18 Junior World Championship . Filatow was the best player of his team with nine points in seven games and thus had a significant share in the tournament victory of the Russians. In the 2007-08 season he made his debut in the Superliga at the age of 17 when he was called up to the CSKA first team and played five games. Mainly, however, he continued to play for the second team in the third highest Russian division, where he was able to impress with 66 points from 34 games. At the end of 2007 he was invited to the squad for the U20 Junior World Championship in 2008 , where he won the bronze medal. Another six months later he was selected in the first round in the first round of the Columbus Blue Jackets in sixth position in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft . In addition, the Sudbury Wolves from the Ontario Hockey League secured the rights to him in Canadian junior ice hockey via the CHL Import Draft .

NHL

Before the start of the 2008/09 season , he finally signed a three-year contract with the Blue Jackets, as he had already expressed great interest in advance to move to North America as soon as possible. For his good performance at the World Cup, the attacker was subsequently rewarded with a renewed appointment to the NHL squad and election to the starting line-up of the AHL All-Star Classic and scored the first on his second appearance for the Blue Jackets in 2009 Hat trick in his NHL career. On June 25, 2011, the Blue Jackets gave him in exchange for a third-round vote in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft to the Ottawa Senators . As a result, he completed nine NHL appearances for the Senators and 15 AHL games for the Binghamton Senators , which should be his last games in North America.

KHL

During the current 2011/12 season Filatov moved to HK CSKA Moscow before he was under contract with Salawat Yulayev Ufa from May 2012 . In May 2014 he was exchanged for Igor Skorochodow from HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk . In October of the same year Filatov was again involved in a transfer when he was handed over to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod against a right to vote for the KHL Junior Draft 2015 . In May 2015 he moved from Torpedo to Admiral Vladivostok as part of an exchange deal and played five KHL games for the club before he was given to HK Dynamo Moscow for financial compensation as a replacement for the injured Konstantin Glazachev . From the 2016/17 season Filatow was under contract with HK Lada Tolyatti and moved to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in December 2017 in return for financial compensation . From June 2018 Filatov played at HK Spartak Moscow and played 15 games for the club before returning to Salawat Yulayev Ufa in November of the same year. Parallel to his time there, he was also on the ice at Toros Neftekamsk . In June 2020, Filatov finally announced the end of his active career.
