Career
Clubs
Mike Dalhuisen began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian province of Ontario , where he has played for various junior teams since 2003. In 2005 he was drafted by the Erie Otters in the sixth round of the OHL Priority Selection , but ultimately not signed. In 2006 he moved to the United States, where he played for Chicago Steel and the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League , which - although the most important junior league in the United States - is a purely amateur event in contrast to the top Canadian junior leagues. In 2009 he was nominated for the USHL's All-Star Game. From 2009 to 2013 he studied at Quinnipiac University and played for the university team Bobcats in ECAC Hockey , a level I league of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He was then signed by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers from the American Hockey League , but only made four appearances and instead played predominantly for their farm team Stockton Thunder , before moving to the Cincinnati Cyclones during the season , who like Stockton Thunder play in the ECHL , was transferred. With the Cyclones he reached the final series of the Kelly Cup by winning the final of the Eastern Conference against the Greenville Road Warriors , which was lost, however, with 2: 4 wins against the Alaska Aces . He then moved to the Texas Stars and thus back to the AHL, but was also used by their farm team, the Idaho Steelheads from the ECHL.
After the 2014/15 season, Dalhuisen returned to Europe when he joined Esbjerg Energy from the Danish Metal Ligaen in June 2015 . With the club, he became Danish champion straight away in 2016 . After this success he moved to the Kazakh club Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk in the Russian Wysschaja Hockey League , two years later to EC Bad Nauheim .
International
Dalhuisen participated with the Dutch team at the U-18 World Championships in 2006 and 2007 and the U-20 World Championships in 2006 , 2007 and 2008 , when he was the second best goal setter behind the Estonian Maksim Brandis with the best plus / minus balance of the tournament and together with the Spaniard Juan Muñoz third-best scorer behind Brandis and his compatriot Anton Perov was also elected the best defender of the tournament, each in Division II.
With his country's men's national team , he took part in the Division I World Championships in 2010 , 2011 and 2012 , when he was appointed to the tournament's all-star team and was the best scorer among the defensive players. He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
