The HK Dukla Michalovce is a Slovak ice hockey club from Michalovce , which was founded in 1974 and has belonged to the second class 1st hokejová liga SR since 2008 . The club plays its home games in Zimný štadión Michalovce , which holds 2608 spectators.
history
HK Dukla Michalovce was founded in 1974 as VTJ Michalovce after the army sports club Dukla Spišská Nová Ves was relocated to Michalovce. As a result, Michalovce took part in the regional game operation before the men's team rose to the 2nd SNHL in 1977. The men's team won their championship in 1977, 1981 and 1983. The 1983 championship was associated with promotion to the 1st SNHL , to which the club belonged until the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The men's team won the championship in the 1st SNHL in 1986 .
After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and the division into the independent states of the Czech Republic and Slovakia , HK Dukla Michalovce was accepted into the second-class first division , in which he played until 2003. During this time, the club maintained a cooperation with HC Košice . After the voluntary relegation to the 2nd division due to financial problems, the club stayed in the 2nd division . In 2008 there was the opportunity to acquire a license for the 1st division and the management Michalovce used this option to move back up to the 1st division.
