Maximilian Brandl (born February 13, 1988 in Landshut ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with his home club, EV Landshut , from the DEL2 since May 2019 .
Career
Maximilian Brandl began his career as an ice hockey player at EV Landshut in the German junior league . Towards the end of the 2004/05 season , the attacker made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga for the Landshut Cannibals and remained unpunished in two games. Brandl was also part of the Bundesliga squad for the team from his hometown for the next two years. In his first full professional season, he scored 14 points , including nine goals, in 45 games. The left-handed shooter then achieved 19 scorer points in 43 games in the 2006/07 season , including five goals. In the same season he made his debut in the German Ice Hockey League for the Augsburg Panthers . However, this was Brandl's only service for the Panthers this season.
During the 2007/08 season the striker was under contract with the Prince Albert Raiders , who had drawn him in the second round of the 2007 CHL Import Draft as the 64th player, from the Canadian Junior League WHL . After a year he returned to Germany in summer 2008 and was signed out of the DEL by ERC Ingolstadt . Brandl played for Ingolstadt as well as with a license for his ex-club, the second division Landshut Cannibals. In January 2009, however, he left the team again and moved to the Portland Winter Hawks in the Western Hockey League, as he hoped there would be more ice age. At the beginning of May 2009 the center signed a contract with the Hamburg Freezers , for which it went on the ice in the 2009/10 season . In July 2010 he moved back to his hometown club, the Landshut Cannibals. With the Cannibals he won the 2nd Bundesliga championship in 2012. In Landshut, Brandl studied industrial engineering parallel to ice hockey .
In May 2014 he decided to move to EV Ravensburg . After three years in Ravensburg, in which he completed over 170 DEL2 games for the Towerstars, he left the club in 2017 and was signed by league competitor EC Bad Nauheim . In December 2017, Brandl broke an ankle and was out for the rest of the season. Despite this, he received a new contract for the 2018/19 season and was appointed team captain of the ECBN. In May 2019 he left the club from the Hessian spa town and returned to his hometown club, where he received a two-year contract.
International
In the junior division, Brandl played for Germany at the U18 World Championships in 2005 and 2006 in the top division. With the U20 selection , he took part in the 2008 World Cup when he was promoted from Division I to the top division. In the senior sector he was not considered for international assignments.
