Stephan Kronthaler (born May 2, 1993 in Landshut ) is a German ice hockey player who has been playing for EV Landshut in the Oberliga Süd again since 2018 .
Career
Stephan Kronthaler began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at EV Landshut . At the beginning of the 2006/07 season, the left shooter ran on in the student team. In the 2008/09 season, the defender played his first game in the Landshut junior team, which competed in the German junior league, where he scored 16 points in 36 games. In the following season 2009/10 his total points yield was almost twice as high in one game less, Kronthaler also celebrated his debut in the professional team, the Landshut Cannibals, for which he played four games that year.
While the native of Landshut played about half of the games in the junior league (26 games, 20 points) and the other half in the professional team (21 games, 2 points) in the 2010/11 season , he belonged from the 2011/12 season to the permanent staff in the defense of the Landshut professional team. In 2012 he won the 2nd Bundesliga championship with the Cannibals.
Between 2014 and 2016 he was under contract with ERC Ingolstadt from the DEL and played 69 games in the DEL, in which he scored four points. In addition, he played for the club in the Champions Hockey League and for the cooperation partners EV Landshut and ESV Kaufbeuren in the DEL2 . In the 2016/17 season Kronthaler played for the Starbulls Rosenheim , then for one year for the Heilbronner Falken , each in the DEL2. In 2018 he returned to his hometown club and with it managed to win the league and the associated athletic (re-) promotion to the DEL2.
International
Stephan Kronthaler has already been appointed to the German national team in the junior division (U17 to U20) several times . In his first appearance in the Germany jersey at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2009 , he still failed to score a point in five games, at the Ice Hockey World Championship for U18 Juniors in Division I in 2010 he scored four assists and one goal in five games responsible and made it into the top division with the team. At the U18 Junior World Championship 2011 - the league could be secured - the Landshut captain of the national team. In the course of the U20 Junior World Championship in Division IA 2012 , in which Kronthaler also took part, the team was promoted to the top division. At the top division tournament a year later, Kronthaler finished ninth with the U20 national team .
