Kim Sang-wook (born April 21, 1988 in Seoul ) is a South Korean ice hockey player who has been under contract with Anyang Halla in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2016 . His brother Kim Ki-sung is also a South Korean national ice hockey player.

Kim Sang-wook began his career as a hockey player on the Kyungsung High School team . At the age of 18, he moved to Yonsei University for four years . In 2010 he was signed by Anyang Halla , one of the two South Korean teams in the Asia League Ice Hockey . With this he was able to win the Asia League in 2011. In 2012 he was voted “Young Player of the Year” by the Asia League Ice Hockey. In 2012 he went to Finland with his brother, who had previously played in the USA, to join HC Keski-Uusimaa in the Mestis . While Kim Ki-sung spent the entire season there, Kim Sang-wook moved back to Anyang Halla at the turn of the year. From 2014 to 2016 he played for Daemyang Sangmu , the youngest of the three South Korean clubs in the Asia League Ice Hockey. He then returned to Anyang Halla and became the first native Korean top scorer in the Asia League in 2017, which he was able to win with Anyang Halla. Since he was also the best preparer of the league, he was elected in their First All-Star team and also the most valuable player in the main round. Also in 2018 he won the Asia Legue with Anyang Halla.

International

For South Korea, Kim Sang-wook took part in the junior division at the U18 World Championships in 2006 in Division I and the U20 World Championship in 2008 when he was third-best scorer after Teruyuki Tsuchiya from Japan and Ivan Demetz from Italy and after the two Italians Marco Insam and Anton Bernard The tournament's third top scorer was to participate in Division II.

He made his debut in the men's national team of the Asian country at the 2011 World Cup in Division II. He then played with the East Asians in the title fights in 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 , when the East Asians made their first promotion succeeded in the top division, in Division I. In 2015, as the second best scorer behind his teammate Michael Swift (together with his compatriots Kim Ki-sung and Mike Testwuide and the Estonian Andrei Makrov ), he contributed significantly to the immediate resurgence from the B-in the A group of Division I. In 2018 he played with South Korea in the top division for the first time, but could not hold the class there.

At the Winter Asian Games 2011 he won the bronze medal with the South Korean team behind Kazakhstan and Japan . At the Winter Asian Games 2017 he finished second with the South Koreans behind Kazakhstan. In 2012 he also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Sochi in 2014. Four years later, he took part in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in his own country.
