Radoslav Hecl (born October 11, 1974 in Partizánske , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey player who played for the Buffalo Sabers in the National Hockey League from 1992 to 2008 .
Career
Radoslav Hecl began his career as a hockey player in the youth of HC Dukla Trenčín , for whose professional team he made his debut in the first division , the highest Czechoslovak division, in the 1992/93 season . In the following season, the defender and his team won the first-ever Slovakian extra league . After he played for their league rivals HK Nitra in the 1995/96 season, he played for HC Slovan Bratislava from 1996 to 2002 . The Brussels residents he won in 1998, 2000 and 2002 the championship . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2002 in the seventh round as a total of 208 players by the Buffalo Sabers , for whom he was on the ice in 14 games in the National Hockey League in the 2002/03 season. The rest of the time, however, he spent with their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Rochester Americans .
After a year in North America, Hecl returned to Slovakia in the summer of 2003, where he received a contract with his ex-club HC Slovan Bratislava, with which he was able to win the national championship again in the 2004/05 season. The 2006/07 season was spent by the 2002 World Champion with Manchester Phoenix in the British Elite Ice Hockey League . Following the 2007/08 season, which the left-shooter had spent with SG Pontebba from the Italian Serie A and won the Coppa Italia , he ended his career at the age of 33.
International
For Slovakia , Hecl took part in the U20 Junior C World Championship in 1994 and the C World Championship in 1994 . He was also part of the Slovak squad at the A-World Championships in 1999 and 2002 .
