Miroslav Šimonovič (born August 10, 1974 in Poprad , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with HC 05 Banská Bystrica in the Slovakian Extraliga since 2010 .

Career

Miroslav Šimonovič began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth of ŠKP PS Poprad , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Slovakian extra league in the 1994/95 season . In the following season, the goalkeeper played mainly for the HK VTJ Spišská Nová Ves in the 1st division , with which he was second division champion. He then moved to HC Košice , with whom he became Slovak champion for the first time in the 1998/99 season . Following this success, the national player returned to Poprad, where he spent another three years in the extra league. In the 2001/02 season he was also in four games for HC Plzeň in the Czech extra league between the posts.

For the 2002/03 season, Šimonovič signed again with HC Košice. He then stood for two seasons each for their league rivals MsHK Žilina and HKm Zvolen on the ice. From 2007 to 2010, the 2002 world champion played again for HK Poprad. He has been between the posts at HC 05 Banská Bystrica since the 2010/11 season .

International

For Slovakia , Šimonovič took part in the 1999 and 2002 World Championships . In addition, he was in the squad at the Olympic Winter Games in Japanese Nagano . There he stayed behind goalkeeper Igor Murín without use.
