František Hossa
František Hossa (born September 13, 1954 in Smižany , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak ice hockey player and today's coach and association official. Since 2008 he has been the assistant coach of the Slovak national ice hockey team .
Career
František Hossa was an active ice hockey player on the position of defender for HC Dukla Trenčín in the first division , the highest Czechoslovak division. After the end of his career, he received a post in the club's coaching staff and was initially an assistant coach at Dukla from 1989 to 1992. With his team he won the Czechoslovakian championship title during this period in the 1991/92 season . After the previous head coach Július Šupler had left the club following this success, Hossa received his post as head coach, which he held until 1995. In the 1994-95 season he was with his team, which since last year in the game operation of the newly established after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia Extraliga participated Slovakian champions .
From 2002 to 2006 Hossa was the head coach of the Slovak national ice hockey team . He was replaced by his former coaching colleague at Dukla Trenčín, Július Šupler. From 2006 to 2009 the Slovak was head coach at the extra league club HK Poprad . At the same time, he was general manager of the Slovak national team at the 2007 World Cup . During the 2009/10 season he looked after his former club HC Dukla Trenčín in the extra league, but was then replaced by Dušan Gregor . Hossa has been the assistant coach of the Slovak national team since 2008, initially under Ján Filc and since his resignation after finishing fourth at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games under the Canadian Glen Hanlon .
In the 2011/12 season he was initially assistant coach at HK Spartak Moscow and was promoted to interim head coach in November 2011.
