Franz Csöngei (born September 13, 1913 in Vienna ; †) was an Austrian ice hockey player and official.

Career

Franz Csöngei came from the offspring of Stockerau EV and played for HC Währing from 1929 before moving to EK Engelmann Vienna in 1934 . In 1938/39 he achieved the German championship title with the EKE . After the merger of EKE and the Vienna Ice Skating Club in 1939 , he played for the Vienna EG . After the Second World War he played for EK Engelmann from February 1946.

Internationally he played for the Austrian national ice hockey team at the Olympic Winter Games in 1936 and at the ice hockey world championships in 1933 , 1934 and 1938 and after 1938 for the German national ice hockey team , for which he participated in the 1939 ice hockey world championship . After the Second World War he played again for the Austrian national team at the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 and at the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1947 , where he won the bronze medal with the team.

As early as 1929 he took over the function of ice hockey chairman at HC Währing.

Private

His granddaughter Helene Csöngei became champion in the Austrian women's ice hockey Bundesliga in 2002 .
