Karel Stibor (born November 5, 1924 in Prague , Czechoslovakia , † November 8, 1948 over the English Channel ) was a Czech ice hockey player .

Career

Karel Stibor spent his entire career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with LTC Prague . With his team, the attacker won the championship of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1943 and 1944 . From 1945 to 1948 he played with LTC Prague in the first division , the highest Czechoslovak league. With the capital city club he won the national championship three times in a row in 1946, 1947 and 1948 . Stibor died in November 1948 at the age of 25 in a plane crash over the English Channel .

International

For Czechoslovakia , Stibor took part in the 1947 World Championships and the 1948 Winter Olympics. At the World Championships in 1947 he won the gold medal with his team and the silver medal at the 1948 Winter Olympics. At both tournaments, Czechoslovakia was the best European team European champion.
