Winner: Tournament canceled

The 3rd European ice hockey championship was held from February 2 to 4, 1912 in the Slavia ice rink in Prague in Bohemia , which at that time still belonged to Austria-Hungary . The interest at this European Championship was great, as around 5,000 spectators saw the games of the Bohemian team.

Only three teams took part in this tournament, including a representation from Austria for the first time. Austria was represented by DEHG Prague , Bohemia by Slavia Prague . A selection from the Berlin Ice Skating Association played for Germany.

However, the Austrian participation immediately became the decisive problem of this EM. Because Austria had applied for membership in the World Ice Hockey Association LIHG on January 14, 1912 and was only accepted into the association on March 18 of that year. This meant that Austria was not yet an official member of the IIHF at the time of the EM. The world association therefore decided at its annual meeting from March 22nd to 23rd in Brussels to retrospectively cancel the EM. Thus the representation of Bohemia was robbed of its 2nd European title.

Shortly after the end of the tournament, the German team protested against the table because, despite the equality of points between Bohemia and Germany, Bohemia was named the winner due to more goals scored.
