The DEHG Prague ( German Ice Hockey Society ) was a sports club from Prague , which was founded in 1905 as the German Ice Hockey Society Bubentsch . It was one of the leading clubs in ice hockey before the First World War, especially in ice hockey with a ball (now called a bandy ), but also in ice hockey with a disc or Canadian ice hockey . As a representative of the German-speaking minority in Prague, he was a member of the German Ice Skating Association , but also took part in the Bohemian and Austrian championships and even represented Austria at international championships. In December 1907 the DEHG changed its name to German Ice Hockey Society Prague .

The club also had sections for skiing and bobsleigh . Field hockey was added later.

At the end of 1918, the general assembly of the association decided to join LTC Prague . Nevertheless, the DEHG remained active in field hockey and played ice hockey again at least from 1922.

Ice hockey and bandy

Bandy

Originally, ice hockey was played with the ball in the club , now known as the bandy. Among other things, the club hosted the Ringhoffer Pokal , which was considered the international Austrian championship. In the first edition in 1911, DEHG won the tournament and defeated Česká sportovní společnost 4: 3 in the final .

ice Hockey

From 1912 the club also took part in championships in ice hockey with the disc , today's ice hockey. At the first tournament participation, the ice hockey championship of the Bohemian Crown Lands in January 1912, the DEHG was eliminated after a 0-0 in the first round against the Zimni Sportklub Prague , while they reached the final a week later at the Bohemian championship .

The club was initially a member of the German Ice Skating Association (as there was no Austrian association yet), but competed for Austria at the European ice hockey championship in 1912 . Since Austria was not yet a member of the LIHG world association, this championship was subsequently canceled. The DEHG also represented the Austrian association at the European Championship in 1913 .

From 1913 the Ringhoffer Cup was also held as a tournament for ice hockey with the disc. In 1913 and 1914 , the team took part in the German championships. In November 2014 DEHG was accepted into the Austrian Ice Hockey Association.

During the First World War the game was stopped. From 1918 onwards, only country hockey was played in DEHG , but ice hockey was soon resumed. In 1922 the DEHG hosted the Ringhoffer Pokal for the last time.

DEHG became a member of the German Ice Hockey Association (DEHV), the representation of the German-speaking ice hockey teams in Czechoslovakia . At the championships of the DEHV, the DEHG took part in the Bohemian group between around 1928 and 1938.

Sports facility

From the 1913 season onwards, an ice rink on the Belvedere served as a sports facility for the section .
