Jaroslav Jarkovský (* 1887 in Meziříčí , Bohemia , † November 18, 1948 ) was a Bohemian ice hockey player .
Career
Jaroslav Jarkovský was born in Meziříčí , south of Prague , and had four siblings (two brothers and two sisters). He was a physically tall right winger who could play in all three forward positions . He was also an exceptionally good goalscorer and was therefore, together with Franz Lange, considered the most dangerous striker in Europe before the First World War .
From around 1906 Jarkovský played ice hockey or bandy at SK Slavia Prague . With Slavia he became several Bohemian master and master of the Bohemian crown lands in the following years .
He played his first international ice hockey tournament at the Coupe de Chamonix in 1909 , when he was part of a selection team of Bohemian students ( České mužstvo akademické [Bohemian academic team], also Hokejoví mušketýři [ice hockey musketeers]). With the Bohemian national ice hockey team , he was European champion at the European Championships in 1911 and 1912 (later canceled).
Jarkovský fought in World War I and received a medal for bravery. After the First World War, he never played ice hockey again, although his former teammates tried several times to persuade him. He was also an excellent rower.
In total, he completed 12 international matches for Bohemia, in which he officially scored 16, a total of 17 goals. He also acted several times as captain of the Bohemian national team, including the Coupe de Chamonix in 1909.
Jarkovský was an engineer by profession and after his active career worked as a confectionery chemist.
