Josef "Boban" Šroubek (born December 2, 1891 in Prague ; † August 29, 1964 there ) was a Czech football and ice hockey player.
Life
In his youth, Šroubek mainly played football. He started in 1905 at Club AC Sparta Prague . However, he often changed clubs and played for Slavia Prague , FK Viktoria Žižkov and 1. FC Brno , among others . He was also nominated for the Czech national team .
In 1910, Šroubek began playing ice hockey. He initially played for Česká sportovní společnost (CSS Prague, German Czech Sports Society Prague ), but soon became an important player in the Bohemian national team , with which he won the European title at the European Championships in 1911 , the same was achieved in 1912 , even if the championship was subsequently canceled has been. After the First World War he was able to repeat this success three times ( 1922 , 1925 and 1929 ) with the Czechoslovak selection . He also won the silver medal with Bohemia in 1913 and with Czechoslovakia in 1921 and 1926 . There was also a bronze medal for Czechoslovakia at the European Championship in 1923 .
At the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 he scored the only goal for the Czechoslovak national team . With this hit, the national team won the bronze medal. He was also on the ice for the Czechoslovaks at the Olympic Winter Games in 1924 and 1928 . He scored a total of 18 goals in 40 international matches.
In 1922 the striker moved to the team of AC Sparta Prague and a year later to SK Slavia Prague . He was accepted into the Czech Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 2008 when it was founded .
