Gaëtan Haas (born January 31, 1992 in Bonfol ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League since July 2019 and plays there in the position of the center . Before that he was only active in his home country, Switzerland, for EHC Biel and SC Bern .
Career
Haas first played inline hockey and learned ice hockey in the youth department of EHC Biel . During the 2009/10 season he came to the men's team of the club for the first time in the National League A (NLA) and established himself as a regular player in the following years.
In November 2016, SC Bern announced that they had signed Haas for three seasons starting in the 2017/18 season. During the 2019 summer break, Haas used a clause in his contract to leave Bern and accept a one-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). At the beginning of October 2019 he finally made his debut for the Oilers in the NHL.
International
Haas wore the national jersey of his home country in the age groups U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 and also represented Switzerland at junior World Cup tournaments. For the Germany Cup 2014 he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time. In 2016 he completed his first world championship with the Eisgenossen .
