Brandon Manning (born June 4, 1990 in Prince George , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League since December 2018 and at the same time for their farm team, the Bakersfield Condors , in American Hockey League is used. The defender previously spent seven years in the Philadelphia Flyers organization and played briefly for the Chicago Blackhawks .

Career

Brandon Manning played in his youth for the Cariboo Cougars and in the 2007/08 season for the Prince George Spruce Kings from his hometown in the second-rate British Columbia Hockey League . At the end of the season, the defender moved to the Chilliwack Bruins from the Western Hockey League (WHL), one of the three highest junior leagues in the country. In Chilliwack, the Canadian increased his performance from year to year, where he led the Bruins two seasons from 2009 to 2011 as team captain. In the 2010/11 season, in which Manning achieved a point average of 1.0 (53 scorer points in 53 games), the defender was finally equipped with an entry contract in November 2010 by the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League . In an NHL Entry Draft , Manning was previously not considered.

In the summer of 2011, Manning moved to the organization of the Flyers and began the 2011/12 season in their NHL line-up, but was sent to their farm team , the Adirondack Phantoms , in the American Hockey League (AHL) after four missions . In the following year he played six more games for the Flyers, spent the rest of the season in the AHL and was invited to the AHL All-Star Classic 2013. After the 2013/14 season, in which the defender remained without NHL use, he ran in the 2014/15 season for the Flyers' new farm team, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms , and was again part of the AHL All-Star Classic.

After eleven missions in the 2014/15 season, Manning was able to establish himself in the Flyers' NHL squad with the start of the 2015/16 season. As a result, he signed a new two-year contract in Philadelphia in the summer of 2016. After that, Manning did not receive a new contract, so he left the Flyers after seven years and joined the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent in July 2018 . However, the defender gave them to the Edmonton Oilers together with Robin Norell in December 2018 and received Drake Caggiula and Jason Garrison in return .
