Jujhar "JJ" Khaira (* 13. August 1994 in Surrey , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player with Punjab -origin, who since August 2013 in the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League has a contract and since November 2015 it on the Position of the left winger plays.

Career

Khaira initially spent his junior years between 2010 and 2012 in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Prince George Spruce Kings. From there he moved to Michigan Technological University for the 2012/13 season , where he played for a year for the university team in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association while studying . After he had already been selected in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft 2012 in the third round by the Edmonton Oilers from the National Hockey League , he left the university in the summer of 2013 and signed a professional contract with the Oilers.

These put the attacker in the 2013/14 season initially in the Western Hockey League with the Everett Silvertips , before he played his first professional season with Edmonton's farm team , the Oklahoma City Barons , in the 2014/15 season . At the beginning of the 2014/15 season , Khaira was active for the new cooperation partner Bakersfield Condors , but celebrated his NHL debut with the Oilers in November 2015. During this season and the following season, the Canadian commuted between the cadres of the farm team and the NHL club, so that by spring 2017 he had played 25 NHL games. After his expiring contract was extended the following summer, he was able to establish himself in Edmonton's squad for the 2017/18 season .
