Michael Fora (born October 30, 1995 in Giubiasco ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Ambrì-Piotta since October 2018, where he plays the position of defender .

Career

Fora learned to play ice hockey in the youth of the GDT Bellinzona , in 2009 the Ticino moved to the youth division of HC Ambrì-Piotta . Following a year abroad (2014/15) with the Kamloops Blazers in the Canadian province of British Columbia , he made his debut for HCAP in the National League A in the 2015/16 season . Before the 2017/18 season, Fora was appointed team captain at Ambrì-Piotta .

In June 2018, Fora decided to move to North America again and signed a two-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes from the National Hockey League (NHL). In October of the same year he returned to Ambrì-Piotta after his contract with the Carolina Hurricanes had been terminated.

International

In the spring of 2015 he received his first squad for the Swiss men's national team, having previously represented his country in the U16, U18, U19 and U20 age groups on international ice. He then won the silver medal with the men at the 2018 World Cup .
