Benjamin Conz (born September 13, 1991 in Saint-Ursanne ) is a Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with HC Ambrì-Piotta in the National League since the 2017/18 season .

Career

Benjamin Conz comes from the offspring of HC Ajoie , but from 2007 played for the Elite A-Juniors of HC Servette Genève . In parallel, he came to some stakes in the U20 national team participating in the National League B participated. In the 2008/09 season he made his debut for Servette in the National League A and completed a total of 21 games in which he achieved an average goal conceded of 2.05 and a catch rate of 90.6%. At the same time, he played again for the Swiss U20 team in the NLB.

In the summer of 2009, his contract with Servette was extended to 2013, with a minimum number of games guaranteed. Since Tobias Stephan was signed as the new goalkeeper at the beginning of the following season , Conz was loaned to SCL Tigers in October 2009 .

Previously, he had also played in the National League B of the Lausanne Hockey Club . In the 2011/12 season, Conz moved to HC Lugano on loan . In March 2012 he was awarded a three-year contract by Friborg-Gottéron after negotiations about a contract extension with the previous goalkeeper Cristobal Huet had failed.

For the 2017/18 season Conz moved to HC Ambrì-Piotta .

International

In 2008 and 2009 Conz took part in the Junior World Championship with the Swiss U18 national team.

Conz has been the goalkeeper of the Swiss U20 national team since 2009 and reached the semi-finals of the 2010 U20 World Cup with them . At the end of the tournament he was named the best goalkeeper and was appointed to the tournament's all-star team.
