Joël Aebi (born May 19, 1996 ) is a Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with HC Friborg-Gottéron in the National League since January 2018 .
Career
Aebi began his career in the youth team at SC Bern . There he went through all levels before moving to the Lausanne HC elite juniors in 2013 . He played a season for the Vaudois before moving back to the SCB's youth department. For the 2016/17 season he was named number 2 in the first team behind Leonardo Genoni . Under the new coach Kari Jalonen , Aebi made his debut in the top division of Switzerland , which was extremely unfavorable for him. He replaced goalkeeper Genoni in the 8-1 defeat by EHC Kloten when the score was 0-5. He also gained match experience in the National League B at EHC Visp .
