The 1970/71 season was the 24th regular staging of the National League B (NLB) , the second highest Swiss league in ice hockey . The NLB champions HC Lugano rose directly to the national league A , while the SC Thun and the ice hockey section of the Grasshopper Club Zurich were relegated to the first division .

mode

The league was divided into two groups. The four best placed teams in each group qualified for the final round, the winners of which were promoted directly to the NLA. The other eight teams played two relegated teams in the third division in a further single round.

Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.
