The 1973/74 season was the 27th regular staging of the National League B , the second highest Swiss league in ice hockey . The NLB champion HC Villars went straight into the National League A in. In terms of sport, SC Thun rose to the third highest division, the first division , while SC Küsnacht withdrew voluntarily to the third division.

mode

The league was divided into two groups with eight participants each. The four best-placed teams in each group qualified for the final round, the winners of which went straight to the NLA. The remaining eight teams contested a relegation round, the last two of which were relegated directly to the third division. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.
