The 2016/17 season was the 70th regular staging of the National League B , the second division in Swiss ice hockey . This time the season comprised 48 qualifying rounds, in 2015/16 there were 45.

The season started on September 9, 2016 and ends on February 12, 2017. The play-offs began on February 17, 2017.
