mode

The mode has been adapted for the transition season to the Swiss Regional League, which will start playing in the 2017/2018 season.

The 34 teams in the 1st league are divided into three regional groups of 11 or 12 teams. With the exception of the final round, all games take place within these groups.

In groups I (Eastern Switzerland) and II (Central Switzerland) a qualification over 33 rounds is played with 11 teams (30 games per team, each against each other three times). The eight best-placed teams are qualified for the play-offs .

In Group III (Suisse Romande), a qualification over 22 rounds with 12 teams is played first (each against each other twice). After qualification, the group is divided into a Masterround I and a Masterround II.

Those ranked 1-6 after qualifying played in group Masterround I in a round-trip round for ranks 1 to 6 for the play-offs. Those ranked 7-12 after the qualification played in the Masterround II in a round-trip round for the 2 playoff places 7 + 8. The points are taken from the qualification into the Masterround.

The play-offs will be held as a “best-of-five” series, with the winner of the playoff final qualifying for the finals of the Swiss amateur championship.

The four best-placed teams in each group qualify for the newly formed Swiss Regional League. There are no relegation rounds in the 2016/2017 season.
