history

The EHC Seewen was founded on January 19, 1951. The first president was Paul Kistler. After the association initially built a natural ice rink on the Lauerzersee, it chose the location for a natural ice rink above the Seewens lido - where the Zingel ice rink is now. The course was leveled in the summer of 1951 and the first games took place there in the following winter after extensive ice preparation. After continuous expansion work in the following decades, the ice rink was roofed over in 1983. In 1998, today's Zingel ice halls were built with the wooden structure, which was renovated in 2006. The Zingel ice rink is owned by KEB Zingel AG.

After being promoted to the 2nd division for the first time in 1979, EHC Seewen made it to the 1st division in 1985 , but rose again the following year. After rising again in 1990, the team was able to hold three seasons in the first division before relegated again to the second division. In 1998 there was a chance of promotion through a merger with SC Herti-Zug , which resulted in the EHC Seewen-Herti. There followed eight seasons in the highest amateur league. The greatest success was the semi-final qualification in 2000. After relegation in 2004 and renaming the club to EHC Seewen, it managed to return to the first division in 2006. After two seasons in the third Swiss division, more followed in 2008 in the second division, before the club managed to return to the first division in 2012.

EHC Seewen also played in the first division in the 2013/14 season, the new coach was former ice hockey player Corsin Camichel .

EHC Seewen currently has eight junior teams, two active teams and the seniors.

The EHC Seewen organizes the so-called Chämiloch tournament, which made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest hobby ice hockey tournament . Over 120 teams took part in these record times. The number of participants has now shrunk to around 70 teams. The tournament takes place in mid-March and was held for the 30th time in 2012.

In the 2016/17 season, EHC Seewen made it to the newly founded, third-class MySports League .
