Dario Bürgler (born December 18, 1987 in Schwyz ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Lugano since May 2016 . He is the son of the former ski racer Toni Bürgler .

Career

Dario Bürgler began his career in 2003/04 with the Elite A-Juniors of EV Zug . Before that, he worked in the youth department of the EHC Seewens. The following season he made his national league A debut for Zug, but continued to play mostly for the junior team. In the 2006/07 season he was already a permanent member of the NLA squad and played 39 season and 12 playoff games. On October 6, 2006 he scored his first NLA goal in the game against the Kloten Flyers . In addition to his assignments at EV Zug, he also played four games for the U20 national team in the NLB.

In December 2006 Bürgler signed a two-year contract with HC Davos. On September 22nd, 2007 he scored his first NLA hat trick against HC Ambrì-Piotta .

Bürgler developed into one of the best wingers in Switzerland in Davos and won the Swiss championship title with the Bündner in 2009 and 2011 . In the 2012/13 season he was HC Davos' top scorer with 47 points . In November 2013 Bürgler signed a contract with EV Zug , which tied him to the club until 2018, and thus left HC Davos after the 2013/14 season. After the end of the 2015/16 season, however, he parted ways with EVZ and signed a contract with NLA competitor HC Lugano in May 2016 .

International

Dario Bürgler has been used several times in Swiss junior national teams. He completed his first major tournament, the U18 World Championship , in 2004. The U18 team achieved promotion to the A group at this tournament. A year later he again took part in the World Cup with the U18 squad .

At the U20 World Championships in 2006 and 2007 , he was again a member of the Swiss squad and reached seventh place with it.

In November 2007 he was appointed to the Swiss national ice hockey team for the first time (participation in the Germany Cup 2007) and was able to convince. In the following years he played regularly for the national team. In 2013 Bürgler was appointed to the World Cup squad for the first time , but he didn't play a single game.
