Robert Linus Alexander Klasen (born February 19, 1986 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Lugano in the National League A since April 2014 .
Career
Klasen began his career as an ice hockey player in the junior division of Huddinge IK . After he made his debut in the second highest Swedish professional league, HockeyAllsvenskan , at the beginning of the 2004/05 season , the winger moved to North America to the Lincoln Stars in the junior league United States Hockey League . There he played in a team with Erik Condra and Jared Boll .
For the 2005/06 season Klasen returned to his hometown club Huddinge IK and spent most of the season with the men's team in the third-class Division 1 . There the 19-year-old finished the season with 62 points from 35 games as the top scorer in the league and helped the team gain direct promotion back to the Allsvenskan. In the following season he was again the best scorer of his team. He then moved to the 2007/08 season for Södertälje SK in the Elitserien , where he finished the season with 34 points tied with Petri Pakaslahti as the best scorer of his team. He was then nominated as one of four finalists for the Rookie of the Year award. After he was named team captain in Södertälje in 2009 , Klasen recorded his season with the highest points to date in the Elitserien, scoring 51 points in as many games.
After the Swede had not been selected by any team in the NHL Entry Draft , he signed a one-year contract as a free agent with the Nashville Predators from the National Hockey League in April 2010 . However, he spent most of the 2010/11 season with their farm team, the Milwaukee Admirals , in the American Hockey League and ended the season with 45 points as the team's second-best scorer. He also received an invitation to the AHL All-Star Classic . On October 30, 2010 he made his NHL debut for Nashville in the game against the Detroit Red Wings and completed a total of four missions in which he remained pointless and punished.
For the 2011/12 season , Linus Klasen returned to Sweden and joined the Malmö Redhawks from the Allsvenskan, where he finished the season as team captain in third place among the best points Swedish players. He then signed a two-year contract with Luleå HF from the Elitserien and was runner-up with the team in his first season. In the play-offs he was tied with four other players in the league's top scorer. He also won the European Trophy with Luleå . In the following season he was able to increase his point yield significantly and with 57 points from 54 games was the second best scorer in the Swedish top division, now renamed Svenska Hockeyligan .
In April 2014 Klasen signed a four year contract with the HC Lugano of the Swiss National League A .
In 2018 he took part in the Spengler Cup with HC Davos .
International
Linus Klasen represented Sweden in several international matches at junior and men's level. In 2013 he played for the country for the first time on the Euro Hockey Tour before he was appointed to the national team for the 2014 World Cup .
Inline hockey
In addition to ice hockey, Klasen also represents the Swedish national team in inline hockey . With this he won the gold medal at the IIHF World Championships in 2007 , 2008 and 2009 . In 2009, he set a personal best with 13 points from six games and scored the decisive goal in the final against the USA .
