Sandro Zurkirchen (born February 25, 1990 in Schwyz ) is a Swiss ice hockey goalkeeper . Since May 2019 he has been under contract with HC Lugano from the National League .

Career

Zurkirchen played for EHC Seewen as a youth before he was signed by EV Zug . During the 2008/09 season he made his debut in the National League A for EVZ . In the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons , Zurkirchen also played in the National League B with HC Thurgau thanks to a B license . In 2013 he switched to HC Ambrì-Piotta , where he was the goalkeeper from 2015. By the end of the 2016/17 season , Zurkirchen had played over 160 NLA games for the Ticino club before moving to Lausanne HC . There he spent the next two seasons before moving to HC Lugano in Ticino .

National team

In November 2014, Zurkirchen was part of the Swiss national team for the first time as part of the Germany Cup and made his international debut during the tournament. He was part of the national team at the 2016 World Cup in Russia, but was not used during the tournament.
