Alessio Bertaggia (born July 30, 1993 in Lugano ) is a Swiss ice hockey player . He has been under contract with HC Lugano from the Swiss National League since November 2014 . His father Sandro was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Alessio Bertaggia was born in Lugano and began his career at HC Lugano , for whom his father had played for many years. During the 2010/11 season he made his debut in the National League and completed 29 games by the end of the season, in which he collected four scorer points. In the summer of 2010, he took part in a training camp for the Portland Winterhawks in North America , the team for which his compatriots Nino Niederreiter and Sven Bärtschi played at the time. A year later he was selected by the Brandon Wheat Kings in the first round of the CHL Import Draft . He moved to the 2011/12 season for the Wheat Kings in the Western Hockey League . In the middle of the 2012/13 season Bertaggia moved within the WHL to the Spokane Chiefs . He played a total of 93 games in the WHL, in which he collected 84 points.
In December 2012 he decided to return to Europe for the 2013/14 season and received a two-year contract with EV Zug . In November 2014 Bertaggia was given to HC Lugano as part of a player swap, in return Dominik Schlumpf moved to EVZ.
International
Internationally, Alessio Bertaggia played for Switzerland at the 2011 U18 Junior World Championship . A year later he represented the U20 selection at the Junior World Championship for the first time . At the U20 Junior World Championship 2013 , the U20 national team reached sixth place and Bertaggia contributed two goals to this result.
Bertaggia made his senior debut during the 2014/15 season. As part of the preparations for the 2019 World Cup , he convinced several times as a goal scorer and was therefore nominated for the World Cup tournament.
