Hockey Huttwil is a Swiss ice hockey club that currently plays its games on the Perspektiven campus in Huttwil . The club was originally called EHC Brandis and moved from Hasle-Rüegsau to Huttwil in the 2018 playoffs .

history

SC Hasle-Rüegsau

In the winter of 1939/40, young men from Hasle-Rüegsau tried to build a natural ice rink for the first time. A year later, lighting and a spray system were installed on the square in the Tschamarie. Simple gangs were also installed. In 1945 they switched from Tschamarie to Brünneli. In 1951 the club joined the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation. The club played from then on in Serie B, with the first game 0:10 lost against SC Langnau. As the mild winter in Hasle made it more and more difficult to make good natural ice, the games took place on the artificial ice rink in Burgdorf from 1962 onwards.

EHC Lützelflüh

Ice hockey began in Lützelflüh in 1938. The team was a subsection of the ice skating club. In 1950 the EHC Lützflüh-Goldbach was finally officially founded. There were also problems with the natural ice in Lützelflüh, which is why they later played their home games in Burgdorf.

EHC Brandis

In 1982, an artificial ice rink was opened on the newly created civil defense facility in Brünneli in Hasle-Rüegsau. From then on, SC Hasle-Rüegsau and EHC Lützelflüh-Goldbach played on this system. From the 1985/86 season, the two clubs founded a syndicate. It now appeared under the name EHC Brandis. Since the structures with two parent clubs were very complicated, it was decided in 1999 to merge the two clubs. The SC Hasle-Rüegsau was renamed EHC Brandis. All players of the EHC Lützelflüh-Goldbach and its finances were taken over by the new club. In the 2000s, the EHC Brandis managed to establish itself in the first division.

Relocation to Huttwil

In the 2017/18 season, EHC Brandis was included in the newly created MySports League. In order to better market the team, the club officials announced in February 2018 that the first team would move to Huttwil. There the EHC Brandis also played the playoff final, which they lost against the EHC Dübendorf. In July 2018 it was finally announced that the team will henceforth compete under the name Hockey Huttwil.
