history

The club was founded in 1906 and in the same year was one of eight founding members of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation . In its club history, the club had merged twice with other clubs and thus changed its name: In the 1920s, after merging with the three-time Swiss champions HC Bellerive Vevey , the club played as HC Villars-Bellerive and from 1966 to 1973 the club was called Villars- Champéry .

Villars had its most successful times in the 1960s, when the club managed to rise from the first division to the Swiss championship title within two years from 1961 to 1963. In 1962 the Villars HC defended this title. In the following year he missed the master triple as runner-up.

In 1966 the team was relegated back to the NLB, could not hold up there and disappeared back into the first division a year later. There the club managed to catch up and rose again to the National League B after two seasons in 1969. From 1974 to 1976 Villars played again for two seasons in the top division.

When the club was relegated to the first division in 1982, it made it back to the NLB in the following season, but then in 1984 definitely said goodbye to the top divisions. Since then, the club played most of the time in the first division with trips to the fourth-class second division from 1986 to 1988 and 2004 to 2007.
