Career

Sven Berger began his career as an ice hockey player at the Glarner ice hockey club and then moved early to the offspring of the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers , for whom he made his debut in the National League A in the 2005/06 season , with no point or penalty in four games stayed. At the same time, he took part in the third-class first division , in which the EHC Wetzikon played, as in the following season . From 2006 to 2008, the defender also played for the Swiss U20 national ice hockey team in National League B , for which he provided two assists in nine games. Berger made his breakthrough in the top Swiss league in the 2007/08 season when he made three assists in a total of 48 games.

For the 2011/12 season , Berger left his parent club Rapperswil-Jona Lakers and moved to Kloten Flyers , where he signed a three-year contract. In March 2012, the defender prematurely terminated his contract with Kloten Flyers and a short time later signed a three-year contract with his parent club Rapperswil-Jona Lakers.

After the Lakers relegated to the NLB in 2015, he moved to HC Ambrì-Piotta in Ticino on May 1, 2015 . After two years in Ticino, Berger moved back to his parent club, with which he was promoted to the upper house in April 2018. After the 2018/19 season he ended his active career and became his team's assistant coach.

International

For Switzerland , Berger took part in the 2006 U18 Junior World Championship in Division I , where he and his team were promoted to the top division.
