The 2019/20 WHL season was the 54th season of the Western Hockey League . The regular season started on September 20, 2019 and should end on March 22, 2020. The playoffs for the Ed Chynoweth Cup were then planned, but game operations were interrupted on March 12, 2020 due to the corona virus pandemic . Finally, the Canadian Hockey League announced on March 23, 2020 that the seasons of OHL, LHJMQ and WHL would be canceled and the subsequent Memorial Cup would not take place.
Changes
The Kootenay Ice moved to Winnipeg and will operate there from now on as Winnipeg Ice . At the same time they moved from the Central to the East Division , while the Swift Current Broncos took the opposite route.
