The Daryl K. (Doc) Seaman Trophy is an ice hockey trophy of the Western Hockey League . The trophy has been awarded annually since the 1983/84 season to the WHL player who best combines good performance with school or academic success. The winner has also participated in the election for CHL Scholastic Player of the Year since 1988 .

The trophy is named after Daryl Seaman , a Canadian businessman who passed away in 2009, who pioneered and promoted higher education and junior ice hockey and was instrumental in bringing school education and professional junior hockey together in Canada. The award, originally given as Scholastic Player of the Year , was renamed to its current name in 1996 in his honor.
