Janssens reached 245 points in 280 games, but was also in the penalty box for 600 minutes. During the NHL Entry Draft 1986 he was selected in the fourth round at a total of 72nd position by the New York Rangers . After he had played an NHL game for the Rangers in the 1987/88 season, he hardly received any appearances in the National Hockey League in the following season and played 38 games with their farm team at the time , the Denver Rangers , in the International Hockey League . From 1989, the Canadian attacker made it permanently into the regular roster of the New York Rangers in the NHL. In the following two years he completed 142 games for the Rangers, in which he scored 35 points. The 1991/92 season spent Janssens mostly with their farm team, the Binghamton Rangers , in the American Hockey League .
In March 1992, the Rangers transferred him to the Minnesota North Stars in exchange for Mario Thyer and a draft pick . After only three games, the North Stars gave him in exchange for James Black to the Hartford Whalers . With the Whalers, the Canadian was able to establish himself in the regular squad for a long time. Until 1997 he ran for Hartford, but could never reach the play-offs with the team. In March 1997, the Whalers transferred him in exchange for Bates Battaglia and a draft pick to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , where he played in 78 games and scored nine points. The next change followed a year later; the Ducks gave it to the New York Islanders along with Joe Sacco and JJ Daigneault in exchange for Travis Green , Doug Houda and Tony Tuzzolino . With the Islanders he received twelve missions until the end of the season, after which his contract was not renewed and he signed a contract with the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent .
The first two seasons he played exclusively with the Blackhawks, in June 2000 the Blackhawks transferred him to the Philadelphia Flyers . After a few weeks, however, he returned to Chicago, which selected him from the waiver . With the Blackhawks, the center received 28 missions in which he remained pointless. The rest of the season he spent with the Norfolk Admirals and Houston Eros , both former Blackhawks farm teams. After the season he finally ended his active career.
