Christian Chartier (born December 29, 1980 in St. Lazare , Manitoba ) is a former Canadian ice hockey defender who was active in the German Ice Hockey League for the Augsburg Panthers and ERC Ingolstadt .
Career
Christian Chartier began his career as a hockey player with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League , for which he played for three years from 1996 to 1999. During the NHL Entry Draft 1999 Chartier was selected in the seventh round as a total of 199th player by the Edmonton Oilers . He then moved within the WHL to the Prince George Cougars , for whom he was active for two years.
In his first season in professional ice hockey Chartier was a total of 65 times for the St. John's Maple Leafs from the American Hockey League in the 2001/02 season . After three seasons Chartier moved to the Las Vegas Wranglers from the ECHL . In the 2005/06 season Chartier also played once for the Manitoba Moose and twice for the Iowa Stars from the AHL.
During the 2006/07 season the defender was under contract for the first time in Europe when Vålerenga Ishockey signed him from Norway . This was followed by three years in which Chartier played for the Augsburg Panthers from the DEL .
In the 2010/11 season Chartier was under contract with ERC Ingolstadt , but returned to the Panthers at the end of the season. He ended his career after the 2011/12 season.
