Boyd Gordon (born October 19, 1983 in Unity , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 758 games for the Washington Capitals , Phoenix and Arizona Coyotes , Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers in the course of his career between 1999 and 2017 National Hockey League has contested on the position of the center . However, Boyd celebrated his greatest career success in the service of the Hershey Bears by winning the Calder Cup of the American Hockey League in 2006.
Career
The 1.83 m tall center began his career in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League with the Red Deer Rebels , with whom he also won the 2001 Memorial Cup . In his last junior season in 2003 he was also part of the WHL East First All-Star Team. In the 2002 NHL Entry Draft , Gordon was finally selected 17th in the first round by the Capitals.
During the 2003-04 season , the right-shooter made his NHL debut for the Capitals. By 2006, as well as during the lockout season review 2004/05 Gordon, however, played again and again in the AHL - farm teams from Washington, with the Hershey Bears , he won the 2006 Calder Cup , the championship of the American Hockey League. Also because of the performances shown there Boyd Gordon was from the 2006/07 season in the NHL regular squad of the Washington Capitals.
On July 1, 2011, he signed a two-year contract with the Phoenix Coyotes . He then agreed in July 2013 on a three-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers . He finally returned to the now renamed Arizona Coyotes in June 2015 when he was traded for Lauri Korpikoski . The Coyotes did not extend his contract, which expired after the 2015/16 season, so he joined the Philadelphia Flyers as a free agent in July 2016 . There he finally ended his active career.
