Joachim Blichfeld (born July 17, 1998 in Frederikshavn ) is a Danish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League since December 2017 and for their farm team , the San Jose Barracuda , in American Hockey since October 2019 League plays in the position of the right winger .
Career
Blichfeld learned to play ice hockey in the youth department of Frederikshavn IK , the ice hockey club in his hometown. There he went through the juniors up to the U20 team, for which he became a regular player in the 2013/14 season as a 15-year-old. At the same time, with 38 scorer points, he was the best scorer of his team and eighth best in the entire league. Furthermore, his 24 goals were best in the league. The young person's achievements were ultimately rewarded with his appointment to the club's men's squad during the season. There he came to a total of 13 missions in the second division 1st division , in which he scored eight points.
To further develop his apparent talent, the Dane moved to Sweden in the summer of 2014 to the junior division of the Malmö Redhawks . The winger was active in Malmö for two years - initially mainly in the U18 team, then in the U20 team. After Blichfeld was elected for the first time in the CHL Import Draft by the Halifax Mooseheads from the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec in the summer of 2015 , he dared to make the leap to North America after being elected again - this time by the Portland Winterhawks from the Western Hockey League . In addition, he was drawn in the seventh round in the seventh round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Blichfeld's first year with the Portland Winterhawks was successful with 68 points in 74 missions. He was also able to show similar values in the 2017/18 season with 65 points in only 68 games. As a result of his achievements, he was equipped by the Sharks with a three-year NHL entry contract in December 2017 . In addition, he received an amateur trial contract at the end of the season until the end of the 2017/18 season , so that he could celebrate his professional debut in the American Hockey League with the Sharks farm team , the San Jose Barracuda . There he came to two missions in the playoffs. At the beginning of the 2018/19 game year he was sent back to the WHL to the Portland Winterhawks to continue playing in the junior division. There he increased his personal statistics significantly, leading the entire league with 114 scorer points and as a result received the Bob Clarke Trophy . He was also honored with the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as Player of the Year and was voted into the WHL West First All-Star Team .
For the 2019/20 season he moved permanently to the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL. There he convinced with 19 points from the first 20 games of the season, so that he was appointed to the Sharks in December 2019 and finally made his debut in the NHL.
International
For his home country, Blichfeld was on the ice at numerous Junior World Championships. He played for the first time at the U18 Junior World Championship of Division IA 2015 in Debrecen, Hungary . There he remained undefeated with the team and made it to the top division. The following year, he was then on the squad at the U18 World Junior Championships in 2016 in the United States . Although the team went back to Division IA after tenth place, with six points the striker was the player with the highest points in the Danish squad. In the following two years, Blichfeld took part in the U20 Junior World Championships in Canada in 2017 and again in the USA in 2018 . He led the Danish U20 selection as the team's top scorer in 2017 to fifth overall - by far the best ranking of the selection at a world championship to date.
