Andrew Shaw (born July 20, 1991 in Belleville , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League since June 2019 . Between 2011 and 2016, the center spent five years with the Chicago Blackhawks, with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2013 and 2015 . He then worked for the Canadiens de Montréal for three years .
Career
Andrew Shaw began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , in which he was active from 2008 to 2011 for the Niagara IceDogs and Owen Sound Attack . In the 2010/11 season he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup , the OHL championship title with Owen Sound , and was then allowed to participate with his team in the Memorial Cup . In the final tournament for the Memorial Cup he was able to convince and received the Ed Chynoweth Trophy as the top scorer of the tournament . He was also elected to the All-Star Team of the Memorial Cup. Because of his good performance with Owen Sound, the center was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2011 in the fifth round as a total of 139th player by the Chicago Blackhawks . For the Blackhawks he scored twelve goals and eleven assists in a total of 40 games in the 2011/12 season in his rookie year . At the same time, he also played regularly for Chicago's Rockford IceHogs farm team in the American Hockey League .
After five years and two Stanley Cup successes with the Blackhawks, Shaw was transferred to the Canadiens de Montréal in June 2016 , which in return sent two second-round voting rights for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft to Chicago. The striker spent a total of three seasons with the Habs and set a personal record with 47 scorer points in the 2018/19 season . At the end of June 2019, however, it was given back to the Chicago Blackhawks together with a seven-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft 2021 , and the Montréal in return with a second and seventh-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft 2020 and another third-round vote in the following year compensated.
