Brent Seabrook (born April 20, 1985 in Richmond , British Columbia ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks from the National Hockey League since July 2005 and plays for them on the position of defender . With the Blackhawks, Seabrook won the Stanley Cup three times in 2010 , 2013 and 2015 . He was also an Olympic champion with the Canadian national team at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The 1.91 m tall defender began his career in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League with the Lethbridge Hurricanes before he was selected as 14th in the first round by the Blackhawks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft . In total, the defender spent four seasons with the Hurricanes until spring 2005.

At the end of the 2004/05 season , the right-shooter came nine times for Chicago's farm team , the Norfolk Admirals , in the American Hockey League . Seabrook then played his first NHL games in the 2005/06 season . In 2007, Brent Seabrook was nominated for the YoungStars Game, which took place in the framework of the NHL All-Star Game , in which he played in the starting line-up of the Western Conference team. In 2010 , 2013 and 2015 he won the Stanley Cup with Chicago . In September 2015, the defender signed a new eight-year deal with the Blackhawks, which media reports suggest will raise $ 55 million.

In March 2018, Seabrook completed his 1,000th regular season game for the Blackhawks in the NHL.

International

At the U20 World Junior Championship in 2004 Seabrook won the silver medal with the Canadian team , at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2005 it was even enough for gold, as was the case at the U18 World Junior Championship in 2003 . He was also in the squad of the Canadian national ice hockey team for the 2006 World Cup , in which the Canadians took fourth place.

He celebrated the high point of his international career so far at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . At first he was surprisingly appointed to the Canadian squad and won the gold medal at the end of the tournament.
