Career

Nick Seeler played in his hometown for Eden Prairie High School in a regional high school league when he was young. At the end of his time there, he was selected in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in 131st position by the Minnesota Wild . The 2011/12 season spent the defender in about equal parts with the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the Des Moines Buccaneers in the United States Hockey League (USHL), the highest junior league in the United States. He scored a total of 28 points scorer in 58 games and was consequently elected to the USHL's all-rookie team . He then enrolled at the University of Nebraska Omaha and took part with their ice hockey team from then on in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). After two years in Nebraska, however, he returned to his home country, moved to the University of Minnesota and was banned for the 2014/15 season due to the transfer regulations of the NCAA. In his senior year of college, the American finally won the Big Ten Conference championship with the University of Minnesota Gophers .

In March 2016, Seeler signed an entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild and was then used by their farm team , the Iowa Wild , in the American Hockey League (AHL). Finally, he made his debut for Minnesota in the National Hockey League (NHL) in February 2018 and played for the team from his home country by the end of the season, including all five games in the first playoff round against the Winnipeg Jets .

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, the defender established himself in the Wild's NHL squad. However, he lost this regular place the following season and was finally signed by the Chicago Blackhawks when he was supposed to be sent to the AHL via the waiver in February 2020 .
