Career
Jeff Tambellini began his career as a hockey player with the Chilliwack Chiefs, for whom he was active from 2000 to 2002 in the British Columbia Hockey League . He then played for the University of Michigan for three years . During this time, the Canadian was selected in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 27th player by the Los Angeles Kings , for whom he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2005/06 season . After four NHL games for the Kings, in which Tambellini did not score a scorer point, he was given up on March 8, 2006 together with Denis Grebeschkow in exchange for Mark Parrish and Brent Sopel to the New York Islanders , for which he was until the end of the 2009/10 season played. In addition, the attacker was regularly used in New York's farm team , the Bridgeport Sound Tigers from the American Hockey League .
On July 1, 2010 he signed with the Vancouver Canucks , with whom Tambellini reached the final series of the Stanley Cup in the 2010/11 season . In July 2011 the attacker agreed on a contract for three years with the ZSC Lions from the National League A , his father had also played in Zurich in the 1988/89 season. In December 2012, the contract with the Lions was terminated by mutual agreement, after which Tambellini was without a club for a few months. In April 2013 he joined the Swedish club MODO Hockey from the Svenska Hockeyligan and spent the entire 2013/14 season there . The attacker then returned to the NLA and was on the ice for Friborg-Gottéron at the beginning of the 2014/15 season , where he had a contract until the end of the 2015/16 season. However, he did not fulfill this, but switched to the Växjö Lakers in January 2015 , with whom he won the Swedish championship in April of the same year .
The Canadian then returned to North America and joined the Tampa Bay Lightning from the NHL. There he came, however, exclusively for their farm team, the Syracuse Crunch , in the American Hockey League to use. Tambellini then moved again to Sweden and was on the ice at Djurgårdens IF at the start of the 2016/17 season . In February 2017 he returned to the Växjö Lakers before declaring his career over after the season. He then took an assistant coaching position at his alma mater , the University of Michigan.
